Commitment at a glance
Policy reviewed 18 August 2026
Reasons for review
- Personal or confidential information published without a valid public-interest basis.
- Copyright or trademark concerns with sufficient identification.
- Dangerous misinformation, malware or a compromised external destination.
- Court order or clearly applicable legal requirement.
- Research later corrected, withdrawn or retracted.
Proportionate response
Possible responses include clarification, correction, replacement of a link, warning label, partial redaction, temporary restriction or removal. Retraction usually requires an integrity notice rather than disappearance because the changed status is part of the scientific record.
What a request should include
- Exact page and material at issue.
- Relationship to the material or legal basis for the request.
- Supporting source or documentation.
- Requested remedy and why a narrower correction is insufficient.
