- No sponsor control over evidence classification, corrections or source selection.
External evidence
Industry, government, academic, philanthropic and community funding can all be relevant. Funding does not automatically invalidate a source, but it should be disclosed with declared author conflicts, sponsor role and study design.
Managing a potential conflict
- Disclose the relationship close to the affected record.
- Use original methods and results rather than promotional interpretation.
- Seek independent or converging evidence when available.
- Record disagreement, limitations and later corrections.
Challenges
Readers may report an undisclosed material relationship or a source presentation that appears promotional. Provide the page, relationship and supporting record without sending private health information.
