Design target
The site is designed around the W3C principles of perceivable, operable, understandable and robust content, with WCAG 2.2 Level AA as the working target. This is an ongoing practice rather than a claim that every combination of content, browser and assistive technology is perfect.
Implemented features
- Semantic headings, landmarks, breadcrumbs and descriptive link text.
- Keyboard-visible focus and skip links to main content and search.
- Reflowing layouts, responsive tables and touch-sized controls.
- Device-local controls for larger text, spacing, contrast, link underlining and reduced motion.
- Text alternatives or hidden labels for meaningful controls and decorative-symbol suppression.
Compatibility target
The Center targets current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on Windows, macOS, iOS and Android. Core reading, navigation, search and downloads do not depend on hover, a specific orientation or precision pointer input.
Known boundaries
External research sites and downloadable source documents are controlled by their publishers and may not meet the same accessibility standard. Very wide evidence tables can be horizontally scrolled on small screens.
Requesting support
If content is difficult to access, identify the page, device or assistive technology and the task you were trying to complete. Do not include health or identity information.
